TEAL is a modular geometric abstraction composed of six individual canvases that together form a vibrant exploration of rhythm, repetition and chromatic tension. Across each panel, bold diagonal bands in yellow, red, orange, black and white slice through a saturated teal field, creating a dynamic interplay of direction and momentum. The work is built on two repeating designs, yet the subtle shifts in angle, spacing and colour relationships generate a sense of continual movement as the eye travels from one canvas to the next.

Each panel measures 42 × 52 cm and is housed in an untreated pine floating frame, a material choice that introduces a natural softness to the otherwise assertive geometry. The raw timber edge acts as a quiet counterbalance to the vivid palette, grounding the work in a tactile, organic presence.

One of the defining qualities of TEAL is its inherent adaptability. The six canvases can be hung in a single linear sequence, alternating orientation to create a continuous, flowing composition that stretches across a long wall. Alternatively, the panels may be rotated, stacked or rearranged into new configurations, allowing the viewer—or curator—to reimagine the visual logic of the piece. This modularity transforms TEAL from a static artwork into an evolving spatial experience, capable of responding to both expansive architectural environments and more intimate, narrow hanging spaces.

TEAL In its full arrangement, the work becomes a study in repetition and variation: the same visual language expressed through shifting alignments, intersecting diagonals and the tension between structure and spontaneity. The bold colour bands appear to surge across the teal ground, creating a sense of continuity that binds the six canvases into a unified whole while still allowing each panel to stand independently.

Created by Australian artist Dean Crozier, TEAL reflects a sustained engagement with geometric abstraction and the expressive potential of modular design. It invites viewers to consider not only the relationships between colour and form, but also the ways in which artworks can be activated through placement, orientation and spatial context. The result is a captivating, flexible installation that rewards both close inspection and large‑scale architectural display.
