REMNANT is a burst of unfiltered creative energy—a canvas where frustration, instinct and colour collide. Set against a cool blue ground, splashes and drips of paint scatter across the surface in unpredictable rhythms, each mark a physical record of movement and release. The work carries the immediacy of a moment when the artist steps into the studio without a story to tell, only a need to create.
This painting emerges from those rare intervals between projects when clarity is absent but the urge to make remains overwhelming. In these moments, the pressure of the blank canvas is dissolved not through planning, but through play. REMNANT becomes the space where the mind loosens, the body acts, and creativity is allowed to flow without expectation.
The colours themselves carry a quiet history. At the end of each artwork, leftover paints are saved in small jars—pigments that once belonged to other stories, other canvases. In works like REMNANT, these stored colours return, re‑mixed and re‑energised, creating subtle echoes of earlier pieces within the splattered surface. For viewers with a careful eye, familiar hues may reveal themselves like remnants of past narratives resurfacing in a new, liberated form.
REMNANT stands as both artwork and process: a vivid reminder that creativity often moves forward through moments of release, spontaneity and unrestrained expression.
