JACARANDA is an abstract painting of the flowering tree that fills the Australian suburban landscape with its purple flowers each spring. The dissecting lines across the canvas separate all the colours that appear through this tree when seen from below, lying on the grass beneath its shady canopy.
The first of a 2-part series of flowering trees along with POINCIANA which is a mirror image of this work. The colours always make me think of spring warmth and the promise of better days after winter.
