BOUND 4 continues the series’ exploration of tension, restraint and the sculptural presence of industrial materials. Silver strapping and copper cords wrap themselves around the board canvas, creating a composition that is visually minimal yet rich in expressive force. The metallic surfaces catch and shift the light, echoing the weathered textures and reflective tones found along Sydney Harbour.
Inspired by the Circular Quay precinct—where wood, metal and stone intersect in a constantly changing dialogue—the work reflects the dynamic interplay between the old city and the modern. The contrasting materials evoke the harbour’s timber bollards and the ropes that strain against tides, engines and the relentless pull of the water. Through these bindings, the piece examines the values we place on human‑made structures and our ongoing attempts to contain, control and stabilise the timeless natural world around us.
