BOUND 3 Copper fibers wrap around this timber board held in place by the addition of golden ropes to create a stunningly simple but expressive artwork.
Inspired by Sydney Harbour, particularly around the area of Circular Quay, an area that is a treasure trove for an abstract artist. The connections between wood, metal and stone are beautiful and dynamic. The changing colours and textures, the compliment and clash of the old city and the modern.
This series of 4 works which include this piece explore the values we place on the creations of man, an attempt to contain and restrict the timeless world around us. These works are reminiscent of the large timber bollards that prevent the local watercraft from hitting the piers. The ropes securing the vessels straining against the pull of the waters and the strain of the engines. The use of the metallic paints explores the value placed on these fibers to withstand the strain of man's struggle against the power of nature.
