BLOODLUST 1 confronts the weaponisation of belief with stark, uncompromising clarity. A violent sweep of red splatter cuts across a partial crucifix, transforming a familiar symbol into a commentary on the ways religion has been used to justify hatred, persecution and murder. The composition’s raw energy exposes the tension between faith as a personal compass and faith as a tool of control.
Bold contrasts and strong colour amplify the urgency of the message, demanding conversation about autonomy, conformity and the human cost of blind allegiance. The work challenges viewers to consider whether they stand as independent thinkers or as followers shaped by inherited doctrine.
